Rey is a Star Wars minifigure first released in 2015, based on the Force-sensitive scavenger from the Star Wars universe.
Description[edit | edit source]
The Force Awakens[edit | edit source]
Rey's original variant has a dark tan leg piece, with printing on the legs for the bottom of Rey's outer robe- black for outlining and dark grey for detailing. A grey section is also printed on the bottom front of the leg joint. At the top of the leg joint, further printing for the outer robe is present, as is the bottom of a brown belt outlined in black.
The minifigure's upper body piece is grey with grey arms for Rey's shirt, and has flesh-coloured hands. Printing is present on both the front and back of the piece, with a significant portion of the piece covered in dark tan for the outer robe. The black outlining and grey detailing pattern on the robe from the leg piece continues, as does the brown belt. The belt is made of two straps- a diagonal strap which was also on the leg piece, and a horizontal strap tied around the waist. The straps are tied with dark tan cloth outlined in black at the left-hand side at the front of the piece. Meanwhile, the horizontal part of the belt is secured at the back, with the end of the belt threaded through holes. The top areas on both sides have flesh printing for the neck area above the grey shirt.
Rey's head piece is flesh coloured, and features two faces. Both faces have the same features- two black eyes with white pupils and black eyelashes, two dark brown eyebrows, seven freckles in a darker flesh tone (four on the left cheek, three on the right), and pink lips with a black line for the mouth. One face features a lopsided smile, while the other face has a more serious expression with a downturned mouth. An additional small darker flesh vertical line is also present on this face between the downturned eyebrows.
The hair piece is a mould specially designed for Rey, and comes in dark brown. The piece features hair tied back, and tied off in three buns down the centre of the piece.
To date, Rey has had a total of four accessories. This includes a brown satchel, which is worn over the right shoulder, and goes between the upper body and head pieces. A tan scarf and goggle piece representing the headwear Rey commonly uses when scavenging can be worn in place of the hair. The piece has black printing for the goggles that Rey salvaged from a stormtrooper helmet, and brown printing around and above the goggles for stitching and detailing. Lastly, silver printing is used on the small cylinder to the right of the goggles, representing the flashlight Rey uses when scavenging in dark areas. Rey's staff is made up of three black pieces- a 4-stud long rod, with two pieces commonly used as lightsaber hilts attached on either end. The final accessory this minifigure has is a silver blaster pistol, based on the NN-14 blaster pistol given to Rey by Han Solo.
The Last Jedi robes[edit | edit source]
Rey's Episode VIII variant has a dark grey upper body piece with grey printing for detailing on her tunic and flesh-coloured printing for the neck area. The tunic is sleeveless, meaning her hands and arms are flesh-coloured with no printing. Rey has grey legs with black printing for detailing, and a dark grey leg joint with grey printing. Her head piece features a similar design to the Episode VII version, and a dark brown hair piece is used which has been specifically designed for this minifigure. This version of Rey comes armed with a blue-bladed lightsaber with a silver hilt.
The Last Jedi jacket[edit | edit source]
A third variant of Rey will be released in 2018, which will feature a dark tan sleeveless jacket with a grey shirt and brown holster straps underneath on the torso, grey arms with flesh-coloured hands and grey legs with printing around the knee area, and the bottom of the brown holster strap on the left leg. This variant uses the hairpiece originally used on Rey's Episode VII minifigure.

Background[edit | edit source]
The Force Awakens[edit | edit source]
Rey was a scavenger who lived on Jakku from a young age after family left her on the desert planet for reasons unknown to her. Growing up, Rey lived in the remains of an AT-AT which was neutralised during the Battle of Jakku. She spent her time taking parts from vessels, including a Star Destroyer that crashed during the same battle and trading the parts to Unkar Plutt for food.
One day after she returned home from scavenging, Rey heard the noises of an astromech droid. Deciding to investigate, she found BB-8 struggling to escape from Teedo, a scavenger who had managed to catch the droid. Rey rescued the droid, freeing it from Teedo's net, and let it stay in her house for the night. The next day, Rey and BB-8 travelled to Niima Outpost, where Rey traded more salvage material with Unkar Plutt. Plutt offered to purchase BB-8 for a large amount of food, however Rey declined, saying the droid was not for sale. Plutt sent his thugs after Rey in an attempt to steal the droid, but Rey fought them off with her staff. During the fight, BB-8 spotted the jacket commonly worn by his master, Commander Poe Dameron of the Resistance. The jacket was being worn by Finn, a stormtrooper who had defected from the First Order. Rey and BB-8 chased Finn down, and Finn explained to the two that he helped Poe escape from Kylo Ren's Star Destroyer, but he believed that Poe had died in the escape. Finn also lied to Rey, saying that he was also a member of the Resistance, and was sent by the Resistance to assist Poe in his mission to retrieve a map that was lead to the Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker's location. The group was spotted by a group of stormtroopers, who were sent to capture BB-8. The stormtroopers opened fire along with several TIE fighters. Rey led Finn and BB-8 towards the shipyard, looking for a ship to escape on. The three eventually got in to a ship Rey had believed to have been old and broken down, but turned out to be the Millennium Falcon, which was still functional. After a chase through the wreckage of a Super Star Destroyer, the TIE fighters were destroyed and the Falcon escaped in to space.
While preparing to journey to the Resistance base in the Ileenium system, the Falcon was caught in a tractor beam and pulled into a freighter's cargo bay. The ship was then boarded by two smugglers and former crew of the Falcon- Han Solo and Chewbacca. Rey told Solo about how they acquired the Falcon and their mission to take BB-8 to the Resistance base. After an encounter shortly after onboard the freighter between solo and two rival criminal gangs who boarded the ship, Rey, Finn, BB-8, Solo and Chewbacca escaped on the Falcon, heading for the planet Takodana. During the journey, BB-8 showed the group the map to Luke Skywalker which he had been sent to Jakku to retrieve, however the map turned out to only be a fragment.
When they reached the planet, Solo gave Rey a small blaster pistol in case she needed to defend herself. Solo then led Rey, Finn and BB-8 to Maz Kanata's castle, so he could ask Maz to help them get BB-8 to the Resistance. During their time at the castle, Finn revealed to Rey that he wasn't a member of the Resistance but a former stormtrooper, and made a deal with two pirates to take him to the Outer Rim in exchange for work despite Rey's pleas for him to stay. Shortly after Finn left, Rey felt something calling her to the lower levels of the castle, and found a lightsaber previously owned by Luke Skywalker, and his father, Anakin, before him. Upon touching the weapon, Rey experienced a vision containing a series of events which the lightsaber was involved in. After the vision, Maz found her and tried to get Rey to embrace the Force, but instead Rey fled the castle into the surrounding woods with BB-8 choosing to follow her.
Some time after she left, Rey saw a First Order fleet descending on the castle, after a First Order informant spotted BB-8 at the castle and called it in. Rey headed back towards the castle, but found it under attack by TIE fighters and stormtroopers. As some stormtroopers in the woods spotted the two and opened fire, Rey told BB-8 to return to the castle while she held them off. Rey was eventually defeated and captured by Kylo Ren, who used his lightsaber to deflect Rey's laser blasts and then called on the Force to probe her mind. The Knight of Ren discovered that Rey had seen the map leading to Luke Skywalker, so captured her instead of pursuing BB-8, and took her to Starkiller Base, the First Order planet that was also a superweapon capable of destroying entire star systems.
Back on the base, Ren attempted to extract the map from Rey's mind using the Force, however Rey was able to draw on the Force, pushing Kylo's attack back and turning the attack back on him. Unnerved by the experience, Kylo left, leaving a stormtrooper to guard her. Rey continued to test her newfound abilities, and used a mind trick on the stormtrooper to get him to free her from her restraints and exit the cell, leaving his blaster behind. Escaping from her prison, Rey eventually came across Han Solo, Chewbacca and Finn, who were on a mission to rescue her and to disable Starkiller Base's shields so the Resistance could launch an assault. The group split in two, planting explosives around the base, until Han came across Kylo Ren, who was Han's son, Ben. Rey and Finn, watching from above, watched as Han attempted to turn Kylo back to the light, but instead he stabbed Han in the chest with his lightsaber, sending him off the bridge the two were standing on into the chasm below. Chewbacca opened fire on Ren, wounding him, and escaped while setting off the detonators, lowering the shields. Rey and Finn, also made their way out of the base, but were confronted by Kylo Ren. Kylo used the Force to slam Rey against the tree, knocking her out. Finn, using Skywalker's lightsaber that Maz had given him back on Takodana, engaged Kylo Ren in a duel, however he was defeated and left seriously injured. Kylo then attempted to use the Force to call Skywalker's lightsaber to him, however the lightsaber instead went to Rey as she summoned it towards her. Rey engaged Kylo in a duel, and despite having never previously used a lightsaber, Rey defeated the Knight of Ren, disarming him and slashing him across the face. However, due to the destruction being caused on the planet, a chasm formed between the two before the battle could be finished. Rey left Kylo Ren behind, heading back towards Finn. Chewbacca soon arrived, carrying Finn back to the Falcon. The three escaped aboard the Falcon as the Resistance X-wings destroyed the planet.
Back at the Resistance base on D'Qar, Finn's wounds were treated but he remained unconscious. Rey was greeted by the head of the Resistance, General Leia Organa, meanwhile R2-D2 reawakened after being in low power mode ever since Luke's disappearance. BB-8 combined the fragment of the map to Luke Skywalker that he had with the remaining part of the map that R2-D2 had stored, revealing Luke's location. Rey, with Chewbacca as her co-pilot, took the Millennium Falcon to the planet Ahch-To. Landing on an island on the planet, Rey encountered Skywalker, handing him his lightsaber.
The Last Jedi[edit | edit source]
After finding Luke Skywalker, Rey attempts to persuade him into using his Jedi powers by joining the fight with the resistance against the First Order. Skywalker initially refuses, believing that it is time for the Jedi to end, but agrees to give Rey three lessons in the ways of the force. During the first lesson, Rey is immediately pulled to the dark side of the force, drawn by its promise of answers to the question of who her parents are. Luke is angered by Rey not resisting the call of the dark, saying that it also happened to his former apprentice Kylo Ren.
During her time on Ahch-To, Rey began communicating to Kylo Ren through the force. Convinced that there was still good in him, she left to confront him on Supreme Leader Snoke's personal star destroyer, the Supremacy. Kylo brought Rey before Snoke, where Snoke proceeded to order Kylo Ren to kill Rey. He refused, instead killing Snoke. Rey and Kylo Ren engaged in a duel between Snoke's eight praetorian guards, defeating them all. Kylo Ren declared himself the new Supreme Leader, and tried to coax Rey into joining him. With his guidance, Kylo Ren caused Rey to remember the the truth about her parents; they were nobodies her sold her for drinking money - she had always known but had suppressed the fact in denial.
Rey refused to join Kylo, as Vice Admiral Holdo destroyed the Supremacy. Rey escaped the remains of the flagship and joined the rest of the resistance on the planet Crait.
