Amanda Waller is a character from the DC Universe. She is cautious of the growing superhuman community, which has made her both an enemy and reluctant ally of the Justice League and other heroes. Waller is playable in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham with The Squad DLC pack installed.
Background[edit | edit source]
Amanda "The Wall" Waller is a member of the United States government who is notoriously distrusting of superhumans and, often through questionable methods, seeks to make sure that the US and humanity can survive should their heroes ever turn on them. This has included the creation of secret agencies such as Checkmate and operatives like the Task Force X, nicknamed the Suicide Squad, which recruits super villains on the death row and assigns them potentially fatal missions with the promise of reduced jail sentences if they survive. The Suicide Squad's members have included villains such as Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, Cheshire, Killer Frost, Plastique, Deathstroke, King Shark, Black Manta, El Diablo, and occasionally heroes like Katana. Waller has been known to use the Squad as a means towards her own goals, outside of protocol, but the Squad has remained loyal despite their hardy dislike of her.
In the new timeline, Waller is currently the head of ARGUS, the Advanced Research Group for United Superhumans, having replaced Steve Trevor after his higher ups feared that his feelings for Wonder Woman would infringe on his work. Through manipulation by Martian Manhunter, Waller creates a covert-ops analogue to the Justice League, called the Justice League of America, which recruits the Martian, Catwoman, Green Arrow, Hawkman, Stargirl, Vibe, Katana, Simon Baz, Rhonda Pineda, and Doctor Light as counters for various Justice League members. However, the team despises Waller's manipulation and strike out on their own after being called into action against the regular League.
In an alternate future, Waller comes to respect the Justice League, and above all, Batman. After he retires, Waller uses her connections to create a cloned son of Batman, Terry McGinnis, and plans to hire a mercenary to kill his parents, sending him on his way to become the next Batman. However, the mercenary argues that the project goes against all of Batman's principles and refuses to kill the McGinnises. Waller agrees to shut down the project, but Terry becomes Batman anyway. As an adult, he confronts an elderly Waller over his parentage, and she kindly admits everything to him.
