Black Mask is an enemy of Batman. He first appeared as a playable character on the DS version of LEGO Batman: The Videogame in 2008 but later returned for portable versions of the sequel, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, under the Super Heroes banner in 2012.
Description[edit | edit source]
Black Mask's first variant reuses the Black Skeleton Warrior's head from the 2007 Castle theme. He wears a dark grey suit similar to the on worn by Bruce Wayne and other minifigures, but was never officially released. His legs are coloured dark grey to match his suit and has black hands to match his mask. He caries two revolvers and a briefcase. His moveset is the same as Two-Face and Hush's.
In LEGO Batman 2[edit | edit source]
Black Mask receives a redesign with an original black face that has PC Black Ir lines to add depth and shape behind the eyes, on the brow, and at the cheeks and nose. His eyes are coloured red and he has yellowed teeth posed in a position like a skeleton. He wears a white, button-up shirt with a dark grey neck tie and belt. There are two pockets on either side of his chest. Though he has flesh showing just under his neck, his hands are coloured black. His legs are also coloured black. He is able to use bombs to destroy silver LEGO objects.
Background[edit | edit source]
Roman Sionis was a businessman running a cosmetics company until he made a mistake which cost him the business to Bruce Wayne. With a newfound hatred of Wayne, Sionis carved a mask from his father's black coffin and turned to crime as the Black Mask. Roman set his family's mansion on fire to burn all ties to his past life, which also burned the mask he used to conceal his identity from Batman onto his skin. Black Mask started a gang known as the False Faces and became a leader of the Gotham City underworld with a hatred of both Bruce Wayne and Batman.
In the video games[edit | edit source]
He appears only on DS versions of LEGO Batman, but his parts are unlocked for the character creator once 100% completion is reached on consoles and PSP. In the sequel, he is unlocked for purchase after finding the second minikit of the fifth level, Ace Chemicals. He costs 50,000 studs and is once again exclusive to portable versions.
